Waterford Township, Michigan – A 25-year-old man is in custody for allegedly fatally stabbing his fiancée.
According to the Waterford Township Police Department, on the afternoon of June 13, a man called 911 and reported stabbing someone. Officers responded to a home on Hackett Street and made contact with the caller, Seth Martin, who was later arrested.
Police found Martin’s fiancée, 33-year-old Mallory Myers, with multiple stab wounds on the bedroom floor, according to the Detroit Free Press. Responders rendered aid, but Myers was pronounced dead on the scene. Authorities reportedly found the weapon used to kill Myers in a sink.
Martin told WJBK-TV that he felt Mallory was “driving a wedge between him and his roommate.” He also allegedly told officials that he fantasized about killing the victim early in their relationship.
Martin is charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held in the Oakland County Jail without bond.
In a statement obtained by the Detroit Free Press, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated, “Domestic violence is a leading cause of death for women aged 15 to 44.” Mallory Myers was not a statistic. Her life was meaningful, and she should be with us still. “We intend to bring Mallory’s killer to justice.”
