Avon Lake, Ohio — The Avon Lake Fire Department confirmed that a man was brought to shore after his boat capsized on Lake Erie Wednesday morning.
Around 10 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the Miller Road Park boat ramp in Avon Lake after receiving reports of a capsized vessel in the water. When the crew arrived, they located the boat and sent divers into the water.
Avon Lake Fire Chief Jeremy Betsa told reporters that the man was pronounced dead once he was brought to shore. He has yet to be identified, but Betsa stated that the owner of the boat has been located. He also said it was unclear whether the man was alone.
The boat ramp is currently closed to the public. The Coast Guard is still searching the waters, and an investigation is underway.
