An Oklahoma woman allegedly told police that she has “anger issues” while confessing to shooting her neighbor.

Oklahoma City police arrested Elisha Kirby, 30, on Sunday following an investigation into the fatal shooting of 45-year-old Billy Sorrels. Police responded to a call at Sorrels’ home on Friday night and discovered him dead of a gunshot wound when they arrived. His body was discovered on the front porch of his home. When police entered the home, they discovered a rifle in the bedroom, where authorities believe Sorrels had been sitting with a 12-year-old child playing video games.

Based on their initial observations of the scene, police assumed his death was a suicide.

An investigation later revealed that a bullet hole in his home’s wall had come from outside.

According to a report from local CBS affiliate KDTV, the investigation led authorities to Kirby, Sorrels’ neighbor. According to court documents obtained by the station, Kirby admitted to firing a gun from her front door while arguing with another woman.

According to police, she admitted to firing the gun, believing she was simply firing into the air. According to court documents, she “confessed she has anger issues and let her anger get the best of her.”

Kirby reportedly told investigators she had no intention of shooting at anyone’s home.

Master Sergeant Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department told KDTV that the bullet had to go somewhere. It went through a wall, struck the man, and killed him.”

Kirby was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder after allegedly injuring herself with a firearm in the past. She has not yet been formally charged by the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, which only has an initial criminal filing. Kirby remains at the Oklahoma County Detention Center, where she is being held without bond.
