Daniel Mihalek

Daniel J. Mihalek, 59, residing in Wakeman, passed away Monday morning July 26, 2021, after a five month battle with cancer.

Dan was born on November 9, 1961, in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Fred and Helen Mihalek of Huron.

Dan was raised in Huron and was a 1980 graduate of Huron High School and EHOVE Joint Vocational School. Dan was a talented carpenter, mechanic, and commercial pilot. He was formally employed with Griffing Flying Service and ThorSport Racing. He was currently employed by Franklin Sanitation as a mechanic.

Dan enjoyed his years piloting to the Lake Erie islands and the many charter flights that took him across the nation. He enjoyed hot rod cars, motorcycles, Nascar racing, and traveling.

Dan’s survivors include his loving wife Lori (Samstag Wobser) Mihalek; three stepsons, Bradley Wobser (Lindsay Carollo) of Columbus, Curt Wobser of Huron, and Christopher Wobser of Huron; sisters, Mary Boos of Huron and JoAnn Kozich of Vista, CA; and brother, Joseph (Molly) Mihalek of Huron. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jordan and Clinton Boos, Jacob, Jessica and James Ashe, and Julie (Brooks) Speiss; great niece, Isabelle Speiss; several aunts and uncles; and many wonderful friends and family.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Mihalek.

Dan was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 31, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Jeffrey McBeth officiating , 430 Main St., Huron. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron.
