VERMILION – The date of the annual Light Up Vermilion event has been moved due to the forecasted weather conditions. The date has been changed from December 1st to December 8th. It will continue to be held in Downtown Vermilion and will go from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
At 6 p.m., the official tree lighting ceremony will take place in Exchange Park, followed by a visit from Santa Claus. Attendees can enjoy festive live music, horse-drawn carriage rides, and holiday shopping at local businesses, many of which will be offering special sales and refreshments for the evening.
In addition to the tree lighting, kids can drop off their letters to Santa, enjoy story time at the library, and take part in holiday-themed crafts and games hosted by community volunteers.
City officials encourage everyone to dress warmly and bring the family out for an evening of holiday cheer. For more information and updates on the event, visit the City of Vermilion’s official website or follow their social media pages.
