Freedom Elementary conducts a Family Night to strengthen neighborhood ties

LIMA, Ohio – Freedom Elementary held a “Family Night” on Thursday afternoon as part of a district-wide effort to increase parent involvement in schools.

Students and their families enjoyed karaoke, games, and other activities organized by the Freedom Elementary staff. Each month, different groups of teachers and staff plan a community event, allowing families to connect with the school in a relaxed and engaging setting.

“It’s just about having fun, bringing people in, and engaging with our community, which is our biggest goal here at Freedom,” said Nathan Murta, music teacher at Freedom Elementary School. “Our families mean everything to us—just making sure our kids feel like they belong here and that our families understand that we’re all on the same team. We’re all just trying to give our children the best possible experience.”

Teachers say the school’s administrative team will plan the next month’s event, which is expected to have a Halloween theme.
