A Medina County man who was allegedly caught with a large amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl during a June traffic stop in Elyria is now facing felony drug trafficking and possession charges.
Everett Massey II, 40, of Brunswick, was charged with one count of drug trafficking, possession of drugs, possession of a fentanyl-related compound, possession of cocaine, and possession of criminal tools, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia in Lorain County Common Pleas Court on September 12.
Massey posted a $10,000 bond set by Elyria Municipal Court, according to court records. The case has been assigned to Judge Melissa Kobasher.
On June 6, Elyria police officers stopped Massey’s gray Subaru hatchback for multiple alleged traffic violations and arrested him.
According to an Elyria police report, the car failed to signal a turn at state Route 57 and Taylor Street, drove too slowly, weaved through traffic, crossed a solid white line, nearly crashed, and moved erratically before coming to a stop.
According to the police report, Massey mumbled answers to officers’ questions, claimed to be driving while tired, and denied having anything illegal in the car.
Officers discovered baggies containing 59 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 4.6 grams of suspected fentanyl beneath the driver’s seat, along with other drug paraphernalia, according to Elyria police.
