FORT WAYNE, IN – On Tuesday, the Allen County Republican Party announced that a life celebration to honor the memory of conservative activist Charlie Kirk will be held this weekend in Fort Wayne.

Chairman Steve Shine announced on Tuesday that the celebration will take place on Saturday, September 20, at noon. It will be held at the Indian Trails Park Concert Pavilion, located at 10313 Aboite Center Road.

Those wishing to attend are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.

Shine reports that Senior Pastor Paul Mower of The Harvest Fellowship Church will preside over the vigil.

Several guest speakers, including Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, are scheduled to attend the event and deliver remarks. The event will conclude at 1 p.m.

Congressman Marlin Stutzman, R-Indiana, and WOWO host Kayla Blakeslee are planning a separate vigil to honor Kirk in Auburn next week.

It will take place on Tuesday, September 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kruse Plaza. You can find more information about the event here.

Kirk, a prominent Trump supporter, was assassinated on Thursday, September 10, while speaking at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested Friday in connection with the shooting.

According to the Associated Press, prosecutors plan to file a capital murder charge against Robinson on Tuesday. Police say he followed “leftist ideology” and may have been “radicalized” online prior to the shooting.
