One person died after an afternoon crash in northwest Ohio

Paulding County, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert station is investigating a fatal collision involving two vehicles.

The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, around 1:14 p.m., on County Road 123 in Jackson Township, Paulding County.

According to the press release, James A. Hasch, 50, of Paulding County, was traveling south on CR 123 when he attempted to pass another southbound vehicle.

While attempting to pass, Hasch collided with a southbound car and veered off the road, colliding with a pole, flipping the car and ejecting the driver.

Hasch was pronounced dead on the scene. The other driver involved in the collision was unharmed.

The crash is still under investigation.
