In multiple text exchanges, the woman who attempted to kill her sister by setting her bed on fire said that was the plan Police

A Kentucky woman allegedly told several people that she intended to kill her younger sister by setting fire to her bed while she slept.

Addison Brown, 22, was arrested by police in Louisville following an investigation into a fire that she is now accused of intentionally starting. According to an arrest warrant reviewed by Law&Crime, Brown is accused of setting fire to a mattress while her younger sister was sleeping on it. The alleged incident occurred on June 1, and after arson investigators investigated the events surrounding the fire, they discovered that Brown allegedly sent a number of incriminating text messages shortly after.

According to the search warrant, Brown fled immediately following the fire, which did not cause any injuries. Brown’s sister, who Law&Crime does not name, “woke up with flames next to her” and quickly extinguished the fire with a pillow. She called for help, and the fire was out by the time first responders arrived.

In addition to Brown’s sister, three other people were present in the home, though their relationships to Brown and her sister were not specified in the warrant.

According to police, Brown allegedly sent “several individuals” text messages in which she admitted to intentionally starting the fire “in an attempt to kill” her sister. According to reports, Brown’s sister was among those who received the messages.

According to the warrant, Brown allegedly caused over $500 in damage to the home.

Brown was arrested after midnight on Friday, and she made her first court appearance. She was booked into the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections on charges of attempted murder, arson, and wanton endangerment. Her arraignment is scheduled for September 22.
