SANDUSKY, Ohio – Northern Ohio will showcase its tourism potential next week as the first U.S. host of the Strongman Champions League, a global competition of strength and showmanship. The two-day event will be held September 19 and 20 in Toledo and Sandusky.
The league, founded in 2008, consists of 16 global contests featuring a variety of strength competitions, including truck pulls, steel beam flips, and deadlifts.
This is the first time the competition has taken place in the United States.
Toledo will host a preview event on September 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at 27 Broadway St., downtown, near Maumee Bay Brewing Company. The event will feature a demonstration of strength events as well as an opportunity to meet the athletes prior to the main competition.
The main competition will take place on Shoreline Drive in downtown Sandusky on Saturday, September 20, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Among the planned competitions are a truck pull and a dramatic keg toss into Sandusky Bay.
Every event in Toledo and Sandusky is free. Both days will include food trucks, entertainment, and family-friendly activities.
