Allen County, Indiana — A large number of emergency vehicles were dispatched to an intersection near train tracks in northeast Allen County for an officer-involved shooting.
Around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, an officer from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office noticed a suspicious-looking vehicle parked near Schwartz and Irving Roads in the dark.
When the officer went to investigate, he noticed the driver had a firearm and requested backup.
The report’s location prompted Indiana State Police, Fort Wayne Police, and Allen County Sheriff Deputies to arrive on the scene.
When the person in the car moved in a threatening manner, officers from all agencies fired their weapons.
Sgt. Wes Rowlader, the ISP Public Information Officer, confirmed to WANE 15 that the individual was killed. The exchange resulted in injuries to a Fort Wayne Police officer. According to ISP, the officer’s condition and cause of injury are unknown.
A WANE 15 crew member who arrived on scene reported seeing an ambulance leave the area with lights and sirens.
The crew member also reported seeing up to 30 emergency vehicles present.
