Allen County, Indiana — Two men were arrested early Sunday morning after racing their vehicles on Interstates 69 and 469.

On Sunday, around 12:39 a.m., two Indiana State Police Troopers were in a patrol car when they noticed a group of sports cars driving south on I-69.

According to court documents, the trooper driving the car followed the group and observed as the cars slowed to line up side by side and accelerate, racing each other at high speeds. This happened three times.

After calling for backup, the troopers sped up behind the cars as they slowed, identifying a white Ford Mustang and a black Chevrolet Camaro accelerating side by side at high speeds. Court documents did not specify how fast the cars were traveling.

The troopers turned on their emergency lights, which caused the rest of the group to slow down. The Camaro came to a stop, while the Mustang continued north on I-469, and the troopers pursued, telling the Camaro driver to stay on the shoulder just as backup arrived.

After stopping the Mustang, both male drivers, 51 and 31, were arrested and booked into the Allen County Jail for participating in a speed contest, a class B misdemeanor, and reckless driving, a class A misdemeanor.
