A Florida bartender allegedly stabbed a patron ten times while making derogatory remarks about the victim’s deceased mother — all on a bar tab.
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, Jason Wilfredo Rosario, 30, is charged with attempted second-degree murder in an incident that occurred on August 31 at Grumpy’s Underground bar in Orlando.
Cops responded to the bar after being flagged down by a woman with blood on her hands. She told police she was in an alley behind the bar when she heard two men fight. A man later brushed past her, claiming there had been a stabbing. She returned to the bar after a patron noticed the blood on her hands.
The victim informed cops. According to police, the argument began when Rosario charged him for drinks that had not been served. The manager resolved the situation, but Rosario was displeased, according to cops. According to the affidavit, he repeatedly yelled at the victim, saying “you can suck a d—” Rosario then mentioned the victim’s mother, who had died. The suspect allegedly walked away from the victim, then returned and suggested they take the situation outside.
Once outside, the two continued to argue until Rosario allegedly said something about the victim’s mother “sucking a d—.” According to the affidavit, the victim punched the suspect, causing him to fall to the ground. They got into a fight on the ground, and Rosario pulled out a knife and began slashing the victim in the back, police said. Rosario allegedly said, “I got him” before the incident ended. The victim told police that the incident happened so quickly that he didn’t realize he’d been stabbed.
Cops discovered ten stab wounds on his body, seven to his left back and three to his head. The victim was transported to a hospital.
According to the affidavit, while officers were investigating, the bar owner approached them and said, “Saucy stabbed someone, and it is not okay.” She identified the suspect as Rosario, also known as “Joc Hip Hop.” According to the affidavit, the owner described Rosario as “hotheaded” and intended to fire him after only three shifts.
Rosario called while the owner was speaking with cops. An officer answered the phone and informed Rosario that he needed to return to the bar. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Rosario and detained him on Friday.
He is still in the Orange County Jail without bond. His next court date is set for Wednesday.
