The White House is commemorating a new milestone for President Donald Trump.
The Trump administration announced on Friday that the president’s approval rating has reached an all-time high, according to a new Daily Mail/J.L. Partners poll.
According to the poll, Trump received a 55% approval rating, while 45% disapproved of his job performance. James Johnson, co-founder of JL Partners, told the Daily Mail that it is the “highest approval figure we have ever shown” for Trump. The results were released on Thursday.
The White House said the poll, which surveyed 867 registered voters between August 21 and September 1, is “confirmation of President Trump’s ability to deliver results,” citing his federal takeover of Washington, D.C., the border, and other priorities. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 3.3%.
However, other polls released this week show Trump’s approval rating hovering in the 40s.
The “Silver Bulletin,” created by polling guru Nate Silver, revealed on Friday that 44.1% of Americans approve of Trump’s performance, while 51.7% disapprove. Meanwhile, The New York Times, which aggregates presidential approval polling daily, reported that Trump has 43% of Americans’ support, with 52% disapproving. According to Real Clear Politics’ data compilation, Trump has 45.4% approval and 50.9% disapproval.
G. Elliott Morris, a data journalist, reported a more intense gap. According to his “Strength In Numbers,” Trump’s average approval rating among all adults was closer to 41.9% on Friday. He received a disapproval rating of 53.7%, making him the least popular president in history at this point in his term. According to the Economist, 41% support Trump while 55% oppose his presidency.
Prior to the Daily Mail/J.L. Partners poll, Trump had tied his highest-ever approval rating as commander-in-chief, with 47% support, according to NBC News. However, Gallup reported in February 2020, during the president’s first term, that he had achieved a personal high of 49%. In July, the Daily Mail reported that Trump had a 49% approval rating.
