Paulding County, Ohio — A Defiance police lieutenant was charged with driving under the influence after crashing his motorcycle in rural Paulding County last week.
On August 26, Benjamin Williams, 44, was riding his motorcycle on state Route 111 in Auglaize Township, in the county’s northeastern corner, when he went off the road around 9 p.m. According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report, Williams hit the dirt shoulder and flipped his motorcycle on its side.
Williams was treated on the scene for minor injuries. He is also facing charges for failure to control and speeding.
Williams has worked for the Defiance Police Department since 2006, according to the agency’s website.
