Allen County Fair gives military awards

LIMA, Ohio — The Allen County Fair honored veterans from all eras.

Roschman Park hosted a resource fair and complimentary lunch for service members, who were admitted for free. Terry Bags, a Purple Heart recipient and local Vietnam veteran, served as the guest speaker. The Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio was also present, providing assistance to veterans in need throughout the region.

“The Veterans Food Pantry, as we travel from fair to fair and event to event, spread the word that we are available to assist our veterans who are in need of groceries or food. “Any honorably discharged veteran can come to us and receive groceries for at least a 30-day period,” said Denny Glenn, president of the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio.

The food pantry serves veterans throughout the region. They are located at 810 W. North St. in Lima and distribute food on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Services are available to all honorably discharged veterans.
