Cleveland, Ohio – After a damp and cloudy stretch influenced by lake-effect sprinkles, conditions are set to improve tonight across northern Ohio and into western Pennsylvania. The National Weather Service in Cleveland reports that skies will gradually clear, giving way to partly cloudy conditions by early Friday morning. This shift will bring one of the coolest and most refreshing nights of late summer.
Temperature Outlook
Overnight lows are expected to dip into the upper 50s and lower 60s, providing a welcome break from recent humidity. Along the Lake Erie shoreline, temperatures will be slightly milder, with Cleveland and Sandusky holding near 63 to 67 degrees thanks to the moderating influence of the lake. Inland communities such as Mansfield, Marion, and Findlay will be cooler, falling closer to 60 degrees.
In Pennsylvania, Erie should remain around 60 degrees, while more sheltered inland valleys, such as Meadville, may slip to a crisp 58 degrees, making it one of the coolest spots in the region tonight.
Fog and Localized Cooling
Motorists should be alert for patchy fog developing overnight, especially in rural valleys and low-lying areas of eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Visibility may briefly be reduced during the morning commute. In addition, light lake breezes may produce cooler pockets along the shoreline, particularly in areas where winds funnel inland before dawn.
A Natural Cooling Opportunity
With temperatures easing into the 50s and low 60s, residents are encouraged to take advantage of the natural cooling by cracking open windows or sleeping outdoors. The combination of fresh air, light winds, and mild humidity will make tonight an ideal evening for outdoor relaxation, late-night walks, or even open-air sleeping.
Looking Ahead
This brief stretch of cool comfort won’t last long. Conditions are forecast to gradually warm heading into the weekend, with daytime highs climbing back into seasonable ranges. Still, tonight offers a rare late-summer window of refreshing overnight relief—a welcome pause before the return of warmer weather.
