Allen County, Indiana — Four people were arrested following a burglary at the Amazon Distribution Center.
On May 3, around 9:40 a.m., the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Amazon Distribution Center for a burglary and theft.
According to court documents, Amazon employees discovered that someone had used a bolt cutter to cut the chain link fence and security locks on several semi trailers, stealing items inside.
Officers on the scene discovered a hole in the fence and several empty boxes on the ground.
Indiana State Police later contacted officers about a traffic stop involving potential burglary suspects.
ISP explained that the car was speeding on US 30 near Warsaw, which caused the traffic stop. When I approached the car, there was a strong odor of marijuana. Inside the vehicle were Shaquetta Capps, 31, James Lott Jr., 33, Quantral Davis, 31, and Isreael Davis, 27.
After searching the car, ISP discovered black ski masks and clothing, bolt cutters, gloves, several black trash bags containing new speakers and battery chargers, and numerous shipping labels for the items to be shipped to Amazon.
Amazon staff confirmed that these items were stolen from the distribution facility using matching shipping labels, and the total value of the recovered items was $11,172.05.
All four suspects were arrested for the stolen items and marijuana, and they are all facing preliminary charges of burglary (Level 5 felony) and theft (Level 6 felony).
