ELYRIA, Ohio — According to a news release, Elyria police raided a Middle Avenue business for allegedly selling drugs in a school zone for the second time on Monday, August 18.
Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at Exotic Flower, 1600 Middle Avenue, seizing approximately 12 ounces of cannabis and an unspecified amount of cash, according to the release.
On April 25, police executed a search warrant and seized several pounds of cannabis, suspected psilocybin or “magic” mushrooms, a firearm with an extended magazine, and cash, according to the release.
Brittany Jackson, 35, of Elyria, the business owner, was charged and later indicted on felony drug charges before being released on a $10,000 bond, according to court records.
“Despite those charges, this most recent investigation confirmed that illegal drug sales had continued at the business,” according to a release issued Tuesday.
Jackson has been charged again in municipal court with new felony counts of marijuana trafficking in a school zone and possession.
She was held in the Lorain County jail until her arraignment on Tuesday morning, when she posted a $15,000 bond and was released, according to court records.
According to court records, she is scheduled to appear in court on September 3 for her previous case and again on Wednesday, August 20, for her new case.
“This kind of repeated disregard for the law is something we take seriously, especially when it involves illegal drug sales in our community and near our schools,” James Welsh, our police chief, said.
