Pursuit results to a wreck and arrest near Lake Alvin

Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Lincoln County deputies responded to a DUI investigation Saturday night, which resulted in a pursuit and crash.

Lincoln County deputies assisted SD Game Fish and Parks officers with a DUI investigation in the Lake Alvin boat ramp area at 6:39 p.m. on Saturday, according to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).

During the investigation, the driver refused to exit the vehicle and attempted to drive away. A LCSO deputy was hit by the vehicle, and a patrol car was rammed. The suspect then fled in a car at high speeds.

SD GF&P and LCSO deputies followed the vehicle.

A few miles south of Lake Alvin, the suspect loses control and crashes. The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. A deputy also received minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.

The driver was identified as a 46-year-old woman from Sioux Falls. She faces two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement, aggravated eluding, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.

The crash investigation is being led by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, while the assault/pursuit investigation is being led by the South Dakota Game and Fish.
