Creative Curiosities begins operations in LaGrange

Creative Curiosities, located at 113 S. Center St. in LaGrange, is now open for business, offering a wide range of handmade and unique items. According to owner Marie Pishner, the space in the former Grange Hall has been converted to accommodate at least 34 vendors selling their own small businesses and creative items.

“This area didn’t have anything like this,” Pishner said. “I’ve sold in five different stores, and still presently, in two beside here.”

Other items available in the store include handmade decorations, wreaths, holiday, baby, and vintage items, honey, sourdough bread, crocheted products, and more.

“I go looking for really unique pieces to bring in here,” said Julie Taylor, the owner of North Coast Vintage Treasures, which is located inside Creative Curiosities. “I do a lot of Halloween shows – find different pieces of Halloween.”

Taylor stated that she specializes in providing customers with unique and vintage Halloween items as well as purses, such as Volkswagen Beetle purses. Tammy Borer, the owner of Heart Fusions, which is located inside Creative Curiosities, is another featured vendor who sells unique and personalized items such as outdoor garden ornaments, Blind Date With a Book sets, unique diamond art, bookmarks, glass ball ornaments, and more.

Borer and Taylor were two of Pishner’s numerous connections to local business vendors when it came to finding tenants for the space. “It’s great being in here – this is a friendly space,” Borer exclaimed. Taylor explained, “It’s a really community-oriented place.” According to Pishner, the space and building had been vacant for many years before the community became interested in Creative Curiosities.

Looking ahead, vendor space is available, and signage will be added to the outside of the building for increased visibility, she said. “We definitely have been welcomed into the community,” Pishner told me.

“A lot of people from the neighborhood have stopped in to see what was going on.” Creative Curiosities in LaGrange sells a wide range of handmade and unique items made by small and local businesses.
