A Michigan man who was “super drunk” when he crashed his truck into a tree and killed a mother with two children is likely to go to prison.

Grady Suggs III, 32, pleaded no contest on Thursday to charges stemming from a Jan. 19 crash that killed Amanda Rogers, a 32-year-old passenger in his truck. According to MLive.com, Suggs drove his vehicle into a tree before fleeing the scene on foot. He left Rogers in the car, and she was pronounced dead by first responders.

Police were able to track down Suggs using a K-9 unit, but he fled again before being apprehended. He was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, but reportedly ripped out his IV and fled for the third time.

Suggs was arrested again on Jan. 21 and booked into jail on a $100,000 bond, despite prosecutors’ request that the judge deny the bond, citing Suggs’ flight risk.

Suggs eventually pleaded guilty to one count of operating a motor vehicle with a high alcohol content that resulted in death and one count of failing to stop at a personal injury accident that caused death.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by MLive.com, Suggs’ blood alcohol content after the crash was 0.213, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08. According to Michigan law, a BAC greater than 0.17 is considered “super drunk” and carries additional penalties, such as a longer prison sentence and the requirement to complete alcohol rehabilitation and treatment.

Rogers, a manager at a local group home, leaves behind two young children, her parents, and several siblings, including a twin sister.

Suggs’ no-contest plea on Thursday was not followed by a sentencing date, according to court records.
