Vermillion, Ohio – During a raid on Friday, the Vermilion Police Department discovered two weapons suspected of being linked to four shootings.
According to a Vermilion Police Department release, an investigation into the shootings on July 23 between 3:23 a.m. and 5:33 a.m. resulted in the identification of two suspects, ages 16 and 18.
One of the shootings involved shooting an occupied home several times with a rifle. The shooting left no one injured.
Police said neither of the suspects were from Vermilion.
On Friday, police served two search warrants at the suspects’ homes, one in Lorain and the other in Sheffield Lake.
Police said two firearms, a 20 gauge shotgun and a 5.56 mm rifle, were discovered on the Sheffield Lake property.
“These appear to be the firearms used in the incident. They will be sent to the BCI laboratory for ballistic testing and confirmation, according to the release.
Police said that if ballistics tests confirm that these weapons were used in the shootings, the suspects will be charged and their identities released.
“There has been no indication that any areas or homes were specifically targeted during the shootings. “It appears that these locations were chosen at random,” the release stated.
