Jackson, Mississippi – Dangerous heat will impact much of Mississippi on Monday, with heat index values soaring as high as 120°F in some areas. This extreme heat is expected to trigger Level 3 Heat Stress Alerts across large parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, actual air temperatures will climb into the upper 90s and low 100s, but the combination of humidity and stagnant air will make it feel much hotter. A Significant Heat Risk (Level 3) has been issued for cities like Jackson, Vicksburg, Brookhaven, Yazoo City, and Greenville.

Heat Risks and Safety Tips

The heat stroke risk will rise for anyone spending time outside, especially during the peak afternoon hours.
