The president of the Oglala Sioux calls for a hate crime investigation into the Coulter post

A now-deleted remark by Republican commentator Ann Coulter has sparked indignation among tribal leaders in South Dakota and around the country.

Coulter responded to a video about decolonization by writing, “We didn’t kill enough Indians.” It has received harsh criticism this week from Oglala Sioux Tribe President Frank Star Comes Out, who describes it as dangerous hate speech.

Allison Renville, a Sioux Falls activist, says the comment spreads ignorance and fuels intolerance, and she encourages people to learn about Native history.

The tribe has asked the FBI and DOJ to examine whether Coulter’s statements constitute a federal hate crime. So far, no news on whether the probe is underway.
