Riders Are Stranded in Midair Due to a Roller Coaster Failure

The ‘Siren’s Curse’ roller coaster at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, malfunctioned for the third time since its opening, suspending riders in midair. The incident happened during the ride’s signature tilt moment, when passengers were held at a 45-degree angle for approximately 20 minutes before the ride resumed.

The ‘Siren’s Curse’ is Cedar Point’s newest attraction, with a height of 160 feet and speeds of up to 58 mph. The ride first opened to the public on June 28 and has had several malfunctions since then. On the first day, riders were stuck for nearly ten minutes, and on July 2, passengers had to be evacuated via stairs.

Cedar Point spokesman Tony Clark stated that the coaster’s safety system worked as intended during the most recent incident, allowing the ride to restart and guests to exit safely. The ride reopened shortly after the incident, and all passengers were uninjured.

Despite these setbacks, ‘Siren’s Curse’ is still a popular attraction, featuring nearly 3,000 feet of track, 13 airtime moments, and two 360-degree barrel rolls. Cedar Point has not yet commented on potential changes or inspections as a result of the malfunctions.
