LIMA, Ohio – One of the bridges on North Union Street in Lima will soon be demolished.
There was some confusion about who was responsible for the bridge, but after some investigation, it was discovered that the county owns the property. It was acquired in 1994, when several parcels were purchased for county parking. The back lot was never used and was sold, but the small parcel above the bridge was not.
“The bridge over Union Street is an old railroad bridge with some structural deficiencies, which is causing some concern,” said Brion Rhodes, Allen County Engineer. “We’re going to remove that bridge sometime the next year.”
Rhodes says the project will be completed in-house and will cost approximately $15,000.
