WAPAKONETA, Ohio – The Wapakoneta Fire Department responded to a fire at a downtown business on Sunday afternoon.
Two young witnesses, Sebastian Carder and Bentley Klopfenstein, were riding their bikes downtown when they noticed smoke coming from The Modern Plantsman.
They quickly notified someone nearby, who dialed 911. Firefighters arrived and discovered smoke coming from a basement vent.
To help contain the blaze, fire officials requested mutual aid from surrounding departments.
The business suffered minor fire damage, the majority of which was caused by smoke and water.
A neighboring business also sustained minor smoke damage.
