After assisting in the planning of wild street takeovers in 2024, an Ohio woman finds out her fate

Cleveland, Ohio – An Ohio woman has learned her fate after orchestrating a series of chaotic street takeovers in 2024.

According to WKYC, Ashlyn Rogers, 23, pleaded guilty to aggravated riot and disrupting public service on June 11. Investigators believe Rogers orchestrated the Cleveland street takeovers on September 28 and 29, 2024.

According to authorities, the takeovers involved 80 to 100 vehicles, with Rogers using multiple Instagram accounts to provide various instructions to the participants and “continuously” including “new locations to attend.”

Rogers, a native of Port Clinton, Ohio, was also charged with possessing criminal tools, but the charge was dropped, according to the outlet. As part of the plea, she agreed to turn over her 2020 Infiniti Q50 and a mobile phone to the Cleveland Police Department, according to WKYC.

Before being sentenced for her role in the takeovers, Rogers spoke with Cuyahoga County Judge Kira Krivosh:

“I’d like to express that I accept full responsibility for my actions. I recognize that what I did was wrong, and I sincerely regret the decisions that led me here. “I’m not here to excuse or minimize my actions, but to express my sincere remorse and accept responsibility for the harm caused by my decisions,” Rogers told Judge Krivosh, according to WKYC.

The station also shared a video of Rogers’ court appearance on its official YouTube account.
Rogers went on to say that she had undergone group and individual therapy and was surrounding herself “with better influences” since the night of the takeovers, according to the outlet.

“I’m not the same person I was on September 28th, and I hope you can see that I’m working hard and doing everything I can to be better for myself, my family and friends, and for the community,” she told the judge.

According to WKYC, Judge Krivosh sentenced Rogers to 18 months in prison for disrupting public services and 12 months for aggravated rioting. The sentences were issued concurrently, so Rogers will serve a total of 18 months in prison, according to the station.

Rogers was also sentenced to up to two years probation following her release, with credit for two days in jail, according to WKYC.

A breakdown of the 2024 Cleveland takeovers.
The first incident occurred on September 28 at 11:10 p.m., when participants blocked an intersection and performed burnouts and donuts in the center of it.

A second takeover began at 11:36 p.m. at a different location after authorities responded to the first. During the second takeover, several people “jumped on top of a City of Cleveland vehicle and the hoods of Cleveland Police Department vehicles, banging on the windows with closed fists.”

The third takeover began at 11:58 p.m. in another Cleveland location, with one of the participants allegedly shooting an officer twice with an airsoft gun. A fourth takeover began around 12:46 a.m. in a different location, with Rogers allegedly providing instructions via social media.

In a fifth incident, around 1:17 a.m., authorities say Rogers was involved in a takeover in a white 2020 Infinity Q50, with participants setting off fireworks, drag racing, and performing donuts and burnouts in the middle of the intersection. Authorities say 80-100 vehicles were purposefully parked to block the intersection.

According to police, at the sixth incident, shots were fired at another intersection, injuring three men.

At the seventh and final takeover, which occurred around 4 a.m., authorities say participants blocked Interstate 90 with construction cones, with some wearing masks and brandishing firearms, setting off fireworks and pouring gasoline on the highway, which was then set on fire.

When police arrived, several participants allegedly jumped on top of CDP vehicles, preventing a fire engine from proceeding with the takeover.
