A Geneva man is accused of child abuse; new information is revealed in court documents

A Geneva man who was previously arrested is now facing multiple felony charges stemming from alleged child molestation incidents over a two-year period, according to court documents filed in Adams Circuit Court.

Robert Beaman, 67, was formally charged on July 9 with five counts of child molesting, including one Level 1 felony and four Level 4 felonies. The charges stem from allegations that Beaman engaged in inappropriate behavior with a child under the age of 14 between January 2022 and December 2023 in Adams County.

The most serious charge, a Level 1 felony, carries a sentence of 20 to 40 years in prison. Each Level 4 felony carries a potential sentence of two to twelve years.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the investigation began when the alleged victim provided detailed statements that were corroborated by additional witnesses. Witnesses include members of the victim’s family and those familiar with the case.

Following the filing of charges, Beaman was taken into custody and made his first court appearance. He is still in custody as legal proceedings continue.

Because of the sensitive nature of the allegations and the alleged victim’s age, authorities have withheld additional identifying information. The Adams County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

Adams County Prosecutor Jeremy Brown is prosecuting the case.
