A single-vehicle motorcycle crash early Thursday morning, five miles east of Fedora, killed a Webster man and seriously injured his passenger.
According to preliminary information released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Ryan Glen Shepherd, 53, was driving a 2009 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUI eastbound on SD Highway 34 around 2 a.m. when the motorcycle veered into the south ditch.
Shepherd suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. His passenger, 25-year-old Sean Vincent Shepherd of Webster, was seriously but not fatally injured. The crash occurred while neither rider was wearing a helmet.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident. All information released at this time is preliminary. The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
