A Virginia man was killed in a head-on collision outside Westminster on Saturday morning.
According to troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lima Post, Jeffrey Tibbitts of Front Royal, Virginia, was killed in the collision shortly after 7 a.m. on Bellefontaine Road, just east of Waynesfield Road.
According to troopers, 20-year-old Ahiyah Moss of Springfield, Ohio, was heading west when she attempted to pass three vehicles and collided with Tibbitts, who was pronounced dead on the scene. Moss and a passenger suffered minor injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
Lima, OH– The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on July 12, 2025, at around 7:12 a.m. The crash occurred on S.R. 117 near milepost 25 in Auglaize Township, Allen County.
Aniyah M. Moss, 20, of Springfield, Ohio, was driving a 2017 GMC Terrain northwest on S.R. 117. Jeffrey O. Tibbitts, 67, of Front Royal, Virginia, was driving a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek southeast on S.R. 117.
Mrs. Moss crossed the center line in an attempt to pass three vehicles, colliding with Mr. Tibbitts head on. Mr. Tibbitts’ vehicle left the road and ended up in a ditch as a result of the collision.
Mr. Tibbitts was pronounced dead at the scene. Alexandria L. Morton, 18, of Springfield, Ohio, was a passenger in Mrs. Moss’ vehicle. Mrs. Moss suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Mrs. Morton was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Waynesfield Rural Fire Department, Perry Township Fire Department, and Blake’s Towing all provided assistance to the Patrol.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds all motorists to wear their seatbelts and never drive while impaired or distracted. The crash is still under investigation.
