Fort Wayne, Indiana – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of the fatal Fourth of July weekend shooting in downtown Fort Wayne.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD), officers were dispatched to the area of Harrison and Pearl Streets, near The Landing, following reports of an unknown problem.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered three teenagers with apparent gunshot wounds. All three people were taken to a nearby hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.
The victim, who had been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, later died. The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Si’Montre Anthony R’Chey Molargik from Fort Wayne.
His death was ruled a homicide, the 21st in Allen County this year.
The other two victims, as well as a fourth victim who presented to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, were released over the weekend.
Following this weekend’s deadly shooting, Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker issued a statement urging parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children and requesting that anyone with information come forward.
On Sunday night, the FWPD announced that two suspects, Nazir Pittman, 16, and Ni’Shawn Jackson, 18, had been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Pittman faces preliminary charges of murder, attempted murder, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Jackson is facing attempted murder and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon charges.
