BAKERSFIELD, Calif — (UPDATE 7/6/2025, 3:08 p.m.):
Jonathan Drucker, the Public Information Officer for the Kern County Fire Department, issued the following statement regarding the so-called “Union Fire.”
“KCFD firefighters arrived to find 2 to 3 acres of grass on fire, threatening structures,” said Drucker. “Forward spread of the fire was stopped 20 minutes after the call.” There is no information on the cause. No injuries were reported.”
A two-alarm vegetation fire broke out at 12007 S. Union Ave. in Bakersfield, prompting an immediate response from multiple Kern County fire crews.
The fire was first reported at 1:16 p.m., and firefighters are currently working to extinguish it.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area while crews work to extinguish the flames.
