Near the El Mirage OHV Recreation Area, a fatal rollover collision was reported

EL MIRAGE, CA — Sunday morning, one person was killed in a rollover near the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed Off-Highway Recreation Area entrance.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) incident log, the crash occurred around 8:58 a.m. on July 6, 2025.

According to the logs, a gray GMC truck was discovered on its side, allegedly after rolling several times. A person was seen lying on the ground near the overturned vehicle.

San Bernardino County firefighters responded to the scene and discovered the patient, who had died when they arrived. Firefighters requested that the coroner be notified.

The crash was reported to be about two miles from the El Mirage Visitor Center, just west of Mountain Vista Road.

The deceased’s identity has not yet been disclosed pending notification of next of kin. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash.

At 11:07 a.m., a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) representative was en route to the location.
