Joey Hernandez, who has worked as a stylist in Tehachapi for 13 years, is now looking to expand his own business by attending the upcoming Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce job fair.
Hernandez founded Chiselling Image Luxury Aesthetics (CILA) a year ago and is now looking to grow his team at the job fair on Saturday at the Aspen Builders Inc. Activity Centre.
“Chiselling Image Luxury Aesthetics, or CILA for short, is both an artistic creation and a labour of love. “And it includes world-class beauty and aesthetics services,” Hernandez explained.
The event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will highlight ten local businesses looking for new employees. Hernandez expressed gratitude to the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce, which is hosting the job fair.
“I mean, I’ve always worked, but starting your own business is a huge accomplishment, and I’ve done well this year. “Now I’m at this job fair looking for a team to grow,” Hernandez explained.
Job seekers can find opportunities at California State University Bakersfield, the Loop Newspaper, and the Los Angeles County Sheriffs.
Clare Scotti of the Chamber of Commerce enjoys the matchmaking aspect of the event.
“I enjoy meeting everyone and learning about their skill sets. The Chamber also collects resumes from everyone so that we can follow up, and it’s great to be a little bit of a matchmaker,” Scotti explained.
The Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District (TVRPD), the event’s partner, is looking for a sports supervisor to oversee teams and athletes of all ages in a variety of sports.
Corey Torres, who has deep roots in the community, praises working for TVRPD.
I grew up here. I recently celebrated 10 years of service with the district, which is very exciting. I have been our district manager for the past six years. It’s a pleasure to come to work here every day,” Torres stated.
