Mercy Health organises a forum to pinpoint regional health issues

LIMA, Ohio – Mercy Health – Saint Rita’s Community Health Team is reaching out to residents to learn more about their health concerns.

On Friday afternoon, team members met with the public to discuss healthy behaviours and steps residents can take to live a healthier lifestyle. Whether it’s more physical activity, better nutrition, or access to primary care, the team is working on a plan to help the community.

They hope to make informed decisions about future programs that will benefit local residents by gathering a large amount of data, including information from their health needs assessment.

“I’m taking the survey a step further, and we’re able to understand the ‘why’ behind the answers. So, we understand why you don’t exercise and why you may not eat fruits and vegetables. Then we can figure out a program, a system, and customise our programming to best meet the needs, whether that’s working with different partners, different educational opportunities, or simply different resources,” said Catherine Luskey, Saint Rita’s community health coordinator.

Additional community forums will be held this autumn. Dates and times will be announced on the Club 219 Facebook page.
