A Colorado man is accused of attempting to abduct a young girl twice in the span of a few minutes.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that 34-year-old Bradley Mikel Wilson was arrested over the weekend and charged with attempted kidnapping.

The charge stems from an incident on the morning of June 21, when Wilson allegedly grabbed an 8-year-old girl while she was out grocery shopping with her grandmother, according to a JCSO news release.

According to the release, Wilson approached the grandmother in the produce section of a Safeway in Littleton and asked, “May I borrow your child?”.

According to the JCSO release, Wilson then grabbed the girl’s shoulder and began walking her out of the store.

Wilson did not make it out of the store, but the girl was able to escape and run to her grandmother after the woman began yelling at him as he attempted to flee with the child, according to the release.

He then left the store, but only briefly, according to the release, which claims Wilson “quickly reentered and tried to take the girl again.”

The store’s employees yelled at Wilson the second time he allegedly attempted to take the girl, and they also called the police.

Deputies arrived at the store to discover that Wilson had already fled the scene, but they were able to apprehend him later that day.

Wilson was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Facility shortly before midnight on June 21, where he remains pending his first court appearance on June 23.

The girl and her grandmother were not physically injured as a result of the attempted abduction.
