In the Elyria mobile home park fire, one dog died and one was seriously injured

According to Elyria Fire Chief Joe Pronesti, a mobile home fire in Elyria on Saturday morning severely injured one person and killed a dog.

The fire department was notified of a structure fire at the 300 block of Gull Drive in the Pikewood Manor Mobile Home Park around 10:43 a.m., according to Pronesti.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered an active fire as well as the injured resident, according to the chief.

Crews searched for additional victims inside but found none, but Pronesti stated that a dog died as a result of the fire.

Pronesti stated that the victim was taken to Lifecare and then to UH Elyria. He stated that she has since been taken to Cleveland Metro Health.

The chief estimated the damage at $40,000, and the fire is being investigated.
