Sarah Francis

Sarah V. (Stradtman) Francis, 98, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Monday, March 8, 2021, at Stein Hospice Care Center.

Sarah was born on November 21, 1922, in Charleston, SC to the late Frederick and Lula (Brownlee) Stradtman. She was raised in Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA, moving to Ohio in October 1941 when she married her late husband, Clifford E. Francis of Sandusky.

Sarah was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, leaving behind her children Sandra (Ron) Finke of Huron, Patricia (Jerry) Coffman of Yorktown, Virginia, Susan (Patrick) Naughton of Avon Lake, and Michael (Shelly) Francis of Kent. She is also survived by six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and her sister, Berta McPipkin of Jesup, GA.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her sister Edith Lentz of Charleston and brother Frederick Stradtman of St. Simon’s Island, GA.

Sarah worked as a secretary before starting her family, then was a devoted mother and dedicated homemaker. Following her husband’s death in 1970, she worked at Sears in Sandusky for 25 years. Sarah was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, and traveled to Europe and Japan, but mostly loved being with her family. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky.

Sarah will be laid to rest at Meadow Green Cemetery following a private family service. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Portland Place for their loving care.
