Brevard County, Florida — A 27-year-old man has been charged with child abuse and murder in connection with his infant son’s death in 2021.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, on June 1, 2021, deputies responded to a home in Merritt Island where a 2-month-old baby was discovered deceased. The child was taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy revealed he had died from multiple blunt-impact head injuries.
After conducting a thorough investigation, authorities identified the victim’s father, Donovan Winter, as the primary suspect. He was arrested on June 17 and charged with felony murder and aggravated child abuse. Winter remains in the Brevard County Jail without bond.
