Two Ohio bars cited for COVID-19 Health Order Violations

Columbus, OH – On Sunday, February 21, The Ohio Investigative Unit charged two bars after they were observed violating COVID-19 health orders. No local bars were cited. The bars that were cited are listed below along with their charge.

Lazy River Lounge, also known as the Muddy Boot, in Zanesville was cited for improper conduct – disorderly activity. At 1:45AM, agents said they entered the establishment and observed more than 100 patrons inside. Little to no patrons and staff were wearing facial coverings. Patrons were seen walking and standing shoulder-to-shoulder while consuming alcoholic beverages. Agents also observed approximately 50 patrons dancing in close proximity to one another. At the bar, patrons were intermixing social groups, standing shoulder-to-shoulder and not social distancing. Agents previously cited the liquor permit in August for insanitary conditions (fixtures, equipment, tables, counters, coolers/refrigerators, or utensils not clean or sanitary), insanitary conditions (alcoholic beverages not maintained in potable condition), after hours consumption – Rule 80, and after hours sale – Rule 80.

Chevy’s Bar in Toledo was cited for improper conduct – disorderly activity. At 12:10AM, agents said they observed approximately 100 patrons standing and consuming alcohol with little to no facial coverings worn or social distancing measures in place. Agents also observed security at the door allowing patrons to enter without controlling the capacity of the permit premises. Agents previously cited the liquor permit in October for improper conduct – disorderly activity.
