Details of the Incident
The situation escalated when an officer located the suspect on the 8700 block of Hickory Avenue. It was here that an officer-involved shooting took place. The officer sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the encounter. The teenage girl, who was carrying a firearm, additional ammunition, and a knife, was taken into custody at the scene.

The girl was also injured in the shooting and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. She faces several serious charges, including attempted murder, assault with a firearm on a peace officer, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and resisting arrest, among others. Charges Against the 17-Year-Old

- Carrying a loaded firearm in public
- Possessing ammunition as a minor
- Carrying a concealed knife

On June 5th, the California City Police Department’s Incident Review Board determined that the use of force by the officer was within department policy.
