VAN WERT, Ohio – The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, in collaboration with the Van Wert Police Department, will work together tonight [June 13] in Van Wert to remove impaired drivers from Van Wert County roads.
As part of the effort, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Van Wert Police Department will conduct an OVI checkpoint on SR118 (S. Shannon Street) in the city of Van Wert from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
To aggressively combat impaired driving-related crashes, troopers and Van Wert Officers will conduct saturation patrols in the vicinity of the checkpoint.
The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grants, is intended to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
