Fort Wayne, Indiana – A 24-year-old man is in the Allen County Jail following a fatal crash Monday that resulted from a drug-related pursuit.
Tyler Alberding, the suspect identified by Indiana State Police, allegedly refused to stop when officers attempted to pull him over for a drug investigation. He ended up colliding with an SUV and a pickup truck near the intersection of Clinton Street and Wallen Road.
An elderly woman in the SUV was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but she later died of her injuries. The Allen County Coroner’s Office identified her as Carolyn Hutchinson, 93, of Fort Wayne.
An 80-year-old man in the truck was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department website, Alberding is facing a slew of charges, including leaving the scene of a fatal crash, driving with a suspended license, dealing meth, and dealing cocaine or another narcotic drug.
The Indiana State Police are still investigating the crash.
