Ohioans start to receive COVID-19 Vaccine

On Monday Morning, Governor Mike DeWine, with First Lady Fran DeWine, announced that the first COVID-19 vaccines had arrived in Ohio. The vaccines will go to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and UC Health. Each hospital will get 975 doses. All doses will go to frontline workers. On Tuesday, eight additional hospitals will get 975 doses.

Governor DeWine said, “This is a very exciting day for Ohio. It’s the day that starts the process toward the end of the pandemic. The end is a long way off, but the end is in sight. Every day as we move forward from here, we’ll see more and more people vaccinated.”

About an hour later, over Twitter, it was announced that the first COVID-19 vaccines were given at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Soon after, that first vaccines were given at UC Health.

This all comes after the FDA issued emergency authorization for the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine on Friday.
