Superintendent Now Recommends Huron City Schools Stay Hybrid

In a email sent to Huron City Schools Parents Monday Afternoon, Superintendent Dennis Muratori announced that at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting he will now recommend that Huron City Schools remain at a Hybrid schedule (Two days in school and three days at home). This is a change from last week, when Muratori recommended that Huron City Schools go back to five-days in-person.

In the email Muratori wrote, “There has been an increase in cases in Erie County and according to local health officials the real possibility of returning to a Level 3 (Red) alert exists. The increase in cases has been attributed to community spread – households and the general community – as evidenced by individuals being unaware of exposure prior to their own symptom onset and test result. While the alert level is important, what is more concerning in this data set is the increase of where the positive cases are
coming from.”

The Board of Education can still vote to return five-days. They scheduled to meet and vote tonight, Tuesday, October 20 at 6:00PM at the Board of Education Office. There will be public comment before Phase II is discussed. If you would like to speak you have up to five minutes. A virtual community form will also continue to be held on Wednesday, October 21 at 6PM via Zoom to explain Phase II. Huron Insider will cover and live stream both events on Huron Insider Live.
